Inside AspenOak — curated pantry shelves in downtown Sheboygan

A Sheboygan girl, a lifelong dream, and a building she waited 15 years for.

AspenOak is the work of Sami Hansen — born and raised in Sheboygan, and someone who has always had a thing for beautiful spaces, good food, and making people feel at home. It started with sugar cookies. Hand-rolled, buttercream-piped sugar cookies baked out of her home kitchen, sold at a small gift market she ran alongside Christmas tree sales.

From there, customers kept telling her the same thing: you need a real store. After years working in home goods retail and falling deeper in love with curation and hospitality, she listened. AspenOak first opened in Elkhart Lake in May 2023 — and when the building on 8th Street in downtown Sheboygan became available, Sami jumped. She'd had her eye on that space for over a decade.

The Sheboygan location opened December 12, 2025. It's part bakery, part pantry, part home goods shop — stocked with olive oils, cookbooks, apparel, candles, and things you didn't know you needed until you saw them. The décor changes weekly. There's always something new. That's exactly how Sami wants it.

Her mom helps in the store. Her dad runs errands. Her sister keeps her sharp on trends. AspenOak is a family operation, and it shows — it's the kind of place where Sami wants to know your name, and wants you to leave feeling a little better than when you walked in.

What we stand for.

🌾

Made From Scratch

It started with sugar cookies baked at home, and that spirit hasn't changed. Everything is made by hand, from real ingredients, with real care.

📍

Rooted in Sheboygan

Sami grew up here. Her parents taught her to support local. AspenOak is her way of giving that back — a community staple built by a local, for locals.
